Poor oral health has been linked to heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
Poor oral health can lead to decay, loss of teeth and gum disease which in turn can have a negative impact on your health and well being, as it affects how you eat, drink, speak and smile.
Visiting the dentist is therefore important.
On your first visit, we will ask you for any concerns or problems you have with your teeth.
We will carry out a full assessment of your whole mouth. We will assess the outside of your mouth/face, the inside including teeth, gums, cheeks, tongue, jaw, palate and throat.
We will be taking X-rays as needed including a 2D OPG of the whole mouth.
We will assess the teeth for any signs of decay, deterioration of existing crowns/fillings, assess the health of the gums looking for signs of gum disease and check the mouth for signs of oral cancer.
Prevention is an important element and your oral health routine and diet will be discussed. We need to know your medical history and any medications you are on as this can also affect your oral health.
Advice will be given on improving your oral health which in turn can improve your general health.
Any treatment that is indicated will be discussed with you in detail with options and an estimate of the costs involved. Referral to a specialist/other service provider if needed.
Prevention is key to all successful treatment and you will be given advice on improving and maintaining your oral health.
All options will be discussed in detail with advantages and disadvantages, alternative treatment options, and any questions you may have. You will be given a treatment plan with costs.
We encourage regular examination appointments in order to help maintain your oral health.
